Maniacal Monday #9

1. Day 18. I will eventually explain this for everyone.

2. I was in a really bad mood Friday. I’m talking craptastic. So I would have gone for a run Friday night even if I hadn’t already planned on running that night. I really pushed myself hard that first mile trying to burn off some of the anger. Then I pushed myself the remaining 2.4 miles just to keep moving. It did wonders for my mood…until I went to sleep… The bad mood lasted pretty much all weekend, and today is Monday…

3. I’m running a 5K this week:

The way my running schedule turned out last week & this weekend, I will be running this on Wendesday.

4. I also start a marathon this week:

This has me nervous, and means I have to step up my working out and be diligent about sticking to my diet, ie, stay out of my daughter’s french vanilla ice cream. 😉

5. I got my whole yard mowed yesterday, except for the little bit that has to be push mowed and weed eated.

6. Excited that this is only a 4 day work week for me…and next week also…oh, and the week after that also!

Wow! Three four-day work weeks for you – that is awesome! I like the idea of losing a marathon. That is a neat way to look at it. I will be cheering you on and hoping you reach your goal. Hmmm. Maybe I should exercise a little and hope it works for changing my mood like running did for you. Gotta love endorphins!

The only downside to 3 four-day workweeks in a row is the 4th week when I have to work a full 5 days. 😉

I thought it was a great idea too, and is about what is left of my goal to lose. 🙂

  2. Exercise has always kept my energy levels high, which meant a good attitude too, lots of great articles about how exercise, eating habits can effect your attitude.

One thing I’ve always disliked about a desk job is sitting on my butt a lot, and so even when I worked in the coporate world I had to get up and move around every few hours, or if that wasn’t an option I’d do exercises while sitting. Although it was minor, it gave me a small amount of exercise while working, and that was enough to tide me over until I could get in the gym. Sitting in one spot for hours would drive me crazy.

I mowed the lawn yesterday too, it’s about an acre, and recently I’ve been using the push mower for that. The riding mower is mainly used to haul things. Anyway using the push mower is a good workout, since parts of the yard is hilly, and I tend to run with the push mower during those times. My neighbors are used to seeing me run with the push mower so it’s “normal Opal behavior”.

First with my change in diet, and now with exercising regularly, I don’t have the mood swings that I was having…at least not the exteme bouncing. 😉

I currently have the airphone monitor, and so I am “manning” the door when the security person isn’t in the office, and this often requires getting up to let someone in/sign in & escort/sign for FedEx or UPS, so I do get up here and there. Plus I try to drink a lot of water which entails going to the bathroom frequently.

Our property is 1.6 acres, and most of it has to be mowed. We used to push mow it, but it was taking all day.
