So today is supposed to be Wholesome Wednesday, but despite the fact I’ve been thinking on it all week, I am a blank today. But I will see if I can’t pull something out of my rear and spread across the blog. Haha.
I hit a plateau in my weight loss. I’ve been bouncing between 18 and 24 pounds for 2 or 3 months, and so I think I need to step something up. I am more consistently exercising, but again, I still have the bounce, so I turned back to my diet.
Portion control has always been at the root of my weight fight. So, I took a look at what I have been eating and as I fell back off the meal planning, I fell back into eating for pleasure. I guess it wasn’t just a pasta problem after all. *sigh*
After my surgery in March, I completely fell off the wagon, and not only was I indulging in some “foods” containing artificial colors/flavors/preservatives, but I flirted around with gluten. Oh, I stayed away from pasta, but I was all over breads. Until the double bacon cheeseburger incident, that is. 😉 So, I have been getting back on the wagon, but I had a bottle of A1 in the fridge that I felt compelled to get rid of, but not enough to just throw it away. Needless to say, I had a few steaks. When I wasn’t eating steak, I was eating chicken, and with chicken came potatoes.
So, I am cutting back on the meat. I can’t go vegetarian, and sure can’t go vegan. Seriously, I am wearing a lanyard that says “I ♥ BACON.” But I can’t afford to eat the local grass-fed meats (often), which leads me to find other protein sources that I can better portion control myself with. Granted, eggs are still considered meat, I guess (yeah, I don’t care enough to look it up-if I’m wrong, I’m wrong), but I’ll only eat 2 with a meal. That’s my supper this week. Egg sandwiches. Note that is not egg salad because I don’t like egg salad. I planned on lunching on salad, but I can’t do that with spring mix. Bleck.
And snacking on fruit…which does not include Powerberries. 😉
Your mind is powerful, people can accomplish so much, with the right mindset, perseverance, and being informed.
A sure way not to do something is to say you can’t. I tell that to myself, and my daughter all the time. When she tells me she “can’t do something”. I say, You’re right, with that mindset you won’t, let’s work on ways to change that, all right? And we do…
But you don’t have to be vegetarian or vegan to be healthy, or experience weight loss. At times it can take a while to lose the pounds. I believe it’s important not to get discouraged, stay focused, make healthy choices, and exercise of course. 😉 Surrounding yourself to motivate you is important too.
I wouldn’t consider eggs meat, but they are a by-product of animals/meat.
You are right. Can’t wasn’t the right word, because I could give it up if I wanted to, at least enough to be considered vegetarian. Oh, I could go vegan too, but again, I just really don’t want to. 🙂 Honestly, I just need to cut back and not eat a 12 oz ribeye every other day or half of a cornish game hen. Or a single pork chop but with the same weight in smoked sausage. And really, I just need to leave sausage alone. Period. And hot dogs. And hamburgers even though I’m about to go cook burgers.
I’m avoiding saying this: I need to cut calories. 😉
You know, I was going to say that you might want to keep a food journal. Fitdaily and a few other places have them. But you can lose the weight, but you’re right, you’ll have to change your eating habits. That can be hard, but it can be done.
A former co-worker lost over 40 pounds. She kept on me about putting her on a plan (She was 68 at the time) and I finally did. I was impressed with her resolve. She was even able to come off some of her medications.
I’d reduce the calories of the burger by adding finely chopped vegetables/seasonings to them. That’s how I prepare them for my family/friends. They never last.
With pork chops, I’d prepare them in a stir fry with other vegetables. You’ll fill up faster, and reduce the calories. But honestly, pork chops is something that would be off the list if I was trying to lose weight. But if you must have them without anything else, trimming the fat,and broiling them would be a better option.
Not preaching, honestly, just thinking of a few ways to reduce the calories in what you’re eating.
I am laughing because Petra has been telling me for months to keep a food journal. I have kept them before, and I can even keep one on MapMyRUN where I keep my run log. It is only sheer laziness that has kept me from doing it. :sigh:
I used to make stir fry a lot, and actually that’s one of the things I did when I was in the Air Force trying to lose weight. And it’s something the hubby likes so it’s a win-win. 🙂
EWWW!!!! 😮
hahahahahahaha!!! :poop:
:cheesy:
Wait… powerberries don’t count as fruit?!?! :-/
hahahaha!
