Maniacal Monday #12

So much has happened over the last few days, and so much of it is stuff that I am just not going to blog about. At least not yet. It is a pretty safe bet that I will eventually. On the other hand, I have a few things I do want to talk about, if just briefly.

1. I have lost 32 pounds so far, and 8 since starting the Marathon Weight Loss Challenge. Whether or not I lose the remaining 18.2 pounds is not so important to me as losing what remains of my spare tire. 😉

2. I took last week off to heal my knee. It tried to hurt as I ran last night, but it calmed down after a mile. Both knees were hurting before I got to the half mile point. I only did 2 miles, and managed a consistent pace.

3. I ate vegan all weekend, but I don’t think I am going to be overly strict about it. For instance, I will still eat honey. I also don’t think I can resist another bison burger if I happen to be in Southern Pines. I tell you, though, it was hard cooking steaks for my family, and not eating one.

4. The hubby let the inside dogs eat leftover fried potatoes. Evie puked for 2 days. :-/

5. I take back envying stay at home moms. Seriously, if their days are like my Saturdays, on the go non-stop, and getting very little accomplished, but totally worn out from all the nothing-to-show-for-it work, I don’t know. I mean, I did do 3 loads of laundry, but only 2 of the 3 made it out of the dryer. I managed to cook the hubster a meal for dinner but that’s only because I found a pack of instant potatoes in the cabinet. Otherwise, it was just steak. Chuck. I can’t afford ribeye for the non-discriminating cow-eaters. 😉 I did get all the dishes washed…

6. Just realized that I was quite vocal in sunday school yesterday. Huh. Interesting.

7. Is totally not liking this romaine lettuce I bought. :-/ Had a similar dislike with baby swiss chard over the weekend.

That’s all I got for now, so I will leave you with this because it’s stuck in my head….

Congratulations on the weight loss! You worked hard for it so I’m glad to see that you are getting results. Hope your knee is 100% soon. Sorry about the dog getting sick – no more leftover fried potatoes for doggies! Since I’m not strictly vegan, I have no opinion on what you eat so long as it is real food! 🙂

Thank you Teeni! Petra and I had one of our Facebook discussion yesterday over soy. (I know, shocking it wasn’t about sex. haha) Pretty much a whether or not it is bad for you or not. The final concluding statement was her saying “Is there anything left for us to eat/drink?! lol!” Since I really don’t drink much milk anyway, I don’t think it would matter if I’m using soy or cow. :cow:

Yes, the going rule is nothing but dog food for Evie because anything else and she’ll puke. But the reason behind the feeding lapse is one of the things I am refusing to blog about… 😉

Congrats on your weight loss, you’re doing great. I constantly tell my daughter she can achieve most anything as long as she doesn’t get discouraged. It’s important to keep moving, those who can accomplish a lot.

I don’t eat too much soy, in the western culture I think people it way too much, and it can be found in a lot of processed vegan products; “vegan meats”, snacks, juice, sweets…. sort of reminds me of flour in that aspect. 😉 Years ago, I purchased a soy maker but rarely use it.

I’m definitely not 100% vegan; if you think about it who is? Animal products are in so many things. I consciously use honey. No not every “q I have no issues with using wool. Despite what people try to tell me about the poor sheep who’ve suffered for my yarn. It gets hot, the sheep I’ve met look thrilled that they don’t have that extra hair/fur (whatever you want to call it) on their backs during the warmer months.

Thanks Opal! 🙂 It is really hard not to get discouraged and keep moving sometimes. 😉

I haven’t been real impressed with the soy milk. I’m going to try to find some almond milk that isn’t UHT pasteurized, or I might just go back to cow or figure out something else to put in my breakfast quinoa.

I had steak Friday night, and eggs, bacon, & sausage Saturday morning so clearly I am not strict. lol But I gained back 2 pounds too, so….

I wasn’t even thinking about not wearing animal. I can wear some wool, but not others. For instance, I have a couple of wool sweaters that don’t bother me at all, but I couldn’t stand wearing wool sweaters/shirts I was issued in the Air Force. I didn’t break out or itch, but they were “scratchy” for lack of a better word. I certainly won’t give up my black leather biker jacket. 😉

Darn comment, sent before I was done…

I meant to type not every queen bee is “raped” to produce honey. Yeah, I’ve heard that statement before. In many cases, it shows that the person making those comments have no clue about bees or how the queen bee gets down. They’re just parroting what they hear 😉 As a child, I read a lot about bees (still do)I’ve always fascinated by them. I’ve know a few local bee keepers, so have plenty of hands on experience with them. Eventually I’ll get honeybees for our property. They are amazing pollinators.

I most likely will do that award thingy today or tomorrow. I haven’t forgot. I still feel like a fish out of water since I’m not on my main computer. /sigh :violin:

I had never heard that about bees. I really have no words for that. :rolleye: I love honey, and I eat local honey to help with my allergies. My husband and son have bee issues, so there is no having my own bees. I would like to have some chickens though…
